Terms of Service

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the RecallScope website and vehicle recall lookup tool (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service does

RecallScope lets you enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and view open safety recall information for the corresponding vehicle, using data made publicly available by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Service is provided for general informational purposes only.

2. No affiliation

RecallScope is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to NHTSA, the U.S. government, or any vehicle manufacturer, dealer, or trademark holder. All product names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification.

3. Informational use only — no warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Recall data is sourced from third parties and may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate, and it may not reflect the current repair status of a specific vehicle. RecallScope does not warrant that results are accurate, complete, current, or error-free.

Do not rely on the Service as your sole source of safety information. Always confirm any recall, its applicability, and the appropriate remedy with a manufacturer-authorized dealer, and follow any official notices you receive.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service; (c) use automated means to scrape or bulk-query the Service; or (d) enter information you do not have the right to submit. You are responsible for the VINs and other information you enter.

5. Intellectual property

The Service's design, text, and branding are owned by RecallScope or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws. Underlying recall data belongs to its respective source. You may not copy or reuse the Service's content except as permitted by law.

6. Third-party links and advertising

The Service may contain advertising and links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, products, or practices of third parties, and your dealings with them are solely between you and the third party.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RecallScope and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RecallScope and its operators from any claims or expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

9. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service at any time, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [Your State], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there.
